Before you start

An Apple Watch that supports sleep tracking; exact metrics vary by model and system.

Build a routine you can repeat: charge before bed, wear the watch comfortably, and review it in the morning. One night can vary, so do not treat every change as a problem.

01Turn on sleep tracking

On iPhone, open the Watch app and go to My Watch > Sleep. Confirm tracking is on, then adjust sleep settings on the watch if needed.

02Schedule sleep and charging

Set a sleep schedule around your routine and turn on charging reminders. Check the battery and adjust the band so it fits comfortably.

03Review the record the next day

Open Health on iPhone and choose Sleep. First check that a record exists and note the broad time range, then look at several days of trends.

That’s it

The next day, you can find last night’s sleep record in Health. Syncing may take a little time.

Questions you may have

What should I check first when there is no record?

Check tracking, battery, fit, and device sync. Then follow Apple’s current sleep requirements for your system.

Can sleep data tell me whether I have a disease?

No. Consumer records can help you notice trends; ongoing symptoms or concerns should be discussed with a qualified medical professional.
